Department of Zoology, At a Glance
The Department of Zoology of Sangamner College is known for devotion, determination, sincerity & quality and has emerged as one of the best learning centres in University of Pune (India).The College has been re-accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC), Bangalore (India) with ‘A’ Grade in 2010. The college has been awarded best college prize by University of Pune in 2008-09. The Department of Zoology has received Best Department Award for the year 2009- 10 from the management.
The first batch of Undergraduate students was admitted in 1978-79.Most of the graduate level students have secured distinction in the final examination and a large number of students were selected for postgraduate studies in different renowned institutes including University departments. The students of the Department have also participated in University and State Level Research Competitions.
Zoology Department is an undergraduate department with five staff members. The faculty members have received research grants for Research projects from University Grants Commission, New Delhi and BCUD, University of Pune. A total of 18 research papers have been published by the teachers: 6 in International Journals & 12 in National Journals.
The Staff Members are associated with various international and national organizations such as ISZS, China, ISEEIS, Canada, ISDB, AZI, India and ISCA. Dr. V. V. Bhavare is Fellow of National Society of Life Sciences, India. She is also recognized Ph. D. guide of University of Pune.
The Department of Zoology of Sangamner College has recently upgraded the laboratory and apart from more than 1 lac books in the Central library, the Departmental Library has additional 250+ books and excellent IT facilities. A large range of modern laboratory and teaching equipments are available.
